Karina McDonald, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Karina McDonald, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who treats patients 6 and older at Alliance Behavioral Psychiatry in Orem, Utah. She seeks to understand her patients to make accurate diagnoses and provide high quality psychiatric care. Karina is passionate about improving and maintaining mental health by applying various solutions through a therapeutic approach that includes medication, healthy living, and other holistic solutions. Patients can choose to meet with Karina for in-person or telepsychiatry appointments.

Karina earned a Nursing Bachelor’s Degree from Utah Valley University. As a nurse, Karina started in medical surgical nursing at Utah Valley Hospital, which included periodically working in the psychiatric unit. During this time, she developed a passion for improving mental health. She transferred to the in-patient psychiatric unit at Utah Valley Hospital where she worked for 4 years. She worked with critically ill patients suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, schizophrenia, and other mood disorders. Karina completed an Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Degree from Texas Tech University specializing in psychiatric mental health. She speaks conversational Spanish.

Her favorite pastimes include doing triathlons, hiking, reading, and eating rich chocolate desserts with the people she loves.
